Man dead after being shot by police in Springdale

One person is dead after Springdale police shot him near a storage facility off Thompson St. Sunday afternoon.Springdale police Cpt. Jeff Taylor said two officers responded to Mota’s Auto Service around 12:25 pm Sunday after someone there called 911. Taylor said a man was using a large rock to break the windows of a car parked outside the business, near a storage facility. There was a physical altercation with the man after officers arrived. At one point, officers fired shots and hit the man. The man was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries. Taylor said at least one of the two officers was injured during the incident. Both officers were checked out at a local hospital and were released. Cpt. Taylor did not release the name of the man killed. He said it will be a few days until they release the names of the officers involved. Springdale police turned the investigation over to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. The two responding officers have been placed on administrative leave while authorities look into the incident. Watch the video above to see the scene.
