Florida man riding motorcycle killed in 4-vehicle wreck on I-4 in Volusia County

DELTONA, Fla. – A 22-year-old Florida man riding a motorcycle was killed early Tuesday in a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 4 in Volusia County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The fatal wreck happened around 3:15 am on I-4 east near Saxon Boulevard in Deltona. I-4 east was closed in the area but was reopened more than five hours later.

The FHP said the motorcycle, a car, a semitrailer and a truck pulling a boat trailer were involved in the crash.

According to an FHP crash report, a Sebring man was riding 2022 Kawasaki in the center lane and failed to slow down, crashing into the boat trailer, which was being pulled by a 2017 Ram 1500 driven by a 46-year-old Lake Mary man . The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the FHP.

The semi and car, a 2018 Hyundai Elantra driven by a 71-year-old DeLand man, struck the Kawasaki, but no one else was injured, the FHP said.

All of the drivers involved in the crash remained at the scene, according to the crash report.

The crash remains under investigation.
