If the San Francisco 49ers trade wide receiver Deebo Samuel, it will likely happen before or during the first-round of the 2022 NFL Draft, which kicks off on Thursday night. That’s when the team can get the most value for him. On Wednesday, Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network reported that the New York Jets remain the front-runners to acquire Samuel and are looking to prepare a trade package that they hope will blow away the 49ers.
“Everyone says that Kyle Shanahan would like to keep Deebo Samuel, but again, the feeling is what the Jets will offer—as they said in The Godfather—the Jets are going to make the Niners an offer they can’t refuse,” said Paulina.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler notes that those around the league also consider the Jets to be the front-runners for Samuel, adding that some interested teams don’t expect the 49ers to trade the receiver.
“Multiple teams are calling, and it’s believed San Francisco is at least listening,” Fowler wrote. “I’m told the Lions and Packers also have interest. As one source pointed out, ‘It would take so much for Kyle [Shanahan] to trade him to Green Bay,’ given the rivalry both in the NFC and between the two coaches, Shanahan and Matt LaFleur.”
One way or another, we’ll know more about the Deebo Samuel situation by Thursday night.
Then you have Jimmy Garoppolo, who the 49ers would actually like to trade. They haven’t been able to do so because the quarterback underwent shoulder surgery on March 8.
“I think the [rehab] progress is good,” general manager John Lynch said on Monday. “So he’s tracking kind of right where we said—throwing towards the end of June and ramping it up from there.”
No one is trading for an injured quarterback who isn’t considered an elite talent, even when healthy. Many wonder if there will be any quarterback-needy teams once Garoppolo is fully recovered.
“I don’t get the sense that the Jimmy Garoppolo market is hot right now,” wrote Dan Graziano, “and the 49ers have made their peace with the fact that teams won’t be willing to part with much in exchange for Garoppolo until after they’ve seen him thrown in late June/early July coming off shoulder surgery.”
Report it.

49ers’ Jimmy Garoppolo says Deebo Samuel will get his money ‘one way or another,’ provides shoulder update
The San Francisco 49ers are looking to trade quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. The 49ers hope to avoid trading wide receiver Deebo Samuel. One would probably prefer to stay on the roster if the team hadn’t drafted his replacement, Trey Lance, a year ago. The other seemingly wants out. News broke on Wednesday that Samuel had requested a trade from the 49ers. The two sides had been discussing a contract extension for the versatile receiver who lined up at running back last season, delivering eight rushing touchdowns—an NFL single-season record for a wide receiver. Samuel’s camp has reportedly halted those contract talks. On Thursday, Garoppolo broke his offseason silence and spoke with Sirius XM NFL Radio about his 49ers teammate and what a team would be getting

Jimmy Garoppolo would welcome being packaged with Deebo Samuel in 49ers trade
Maybe we will see Jimmy Garoppolo throwing passes to Deebo Samuel in 2022, after all. No, not with the San Francisco 49ers. At least one of them is likely to be traded before the start of the season. Garoppolo is being forced out after the 49ers drafted his replacement, Trey Lance, last year. San Francisco would like to hold onto Samuel for the foreseeable future, signing him to a long-term contract extension. But, for now, the feeling doesn’t seem mutual. ESPN reported this week that Samuel has requested to be traded. The 49ers can’t seem to offload Garoppolo, and teams might be tripping over themselves to get Samuel. So could San Francisco take advantage of the situation and use the wide receiver’s high value to include Garoppolo in a trade

ESPN suggests this Jimmy Garoppolo trade for 49ers in unique mock draft
Most expect trades to occur during next week’s draft. Maybe a lot of them. ESPN’s Bill Barnwell takes it a step further in his latest mock draft—if you can call it that. It doesn’t even focus on players being drafted. Instead, the focus is—in case you haven’t already guessed—trades. But it’s not just projected trades. Barnwell goes overboard, making his latest mock draft an all-trade affair. That’s right. It’s his 2022 all-trade mock draft. Every pick involves a trade. Obviously, things won’t get to this level of madness. However, Barnwell

49ers’ Jimmy Garoppolo: I’ll be 100 percent by Week 1; Deebo Samuel is ‘different’
Jimmy Garoppolo joined CBS Sports Radio’s The DA Show on Tuesday morning and, as he did last week, provided an update on his shoulder. The San Francisco 49ers quarterback underwent surgery on March 8. General manager John Lynch shared that Garoppolo is expected to throw again in June. “I think the progress is good,” Lynch said on Monday. “So he’s tracking kind of right where we said—throwing towards the end of June and ramping it up from there. So, that’s where that’s at.” Whether or not that means throwing for the 49ers remains to be seen. Ideally, the team would like
