CLEVELAND, Ohio — Browns GM Andrew Berry is expected to add Eagles Vice President of Football Operations Catherine Raiche in a similar position here, a league source confirmed for cleveland.com.
Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland was the first to report that the Browns were pursuing Raiche, who is the highest-ranking female personnel executive in the NFL.
The Browns are set to offer her the job soon, and she’s expected to accept it, the league source said.
Berry, who left the Browns in 2019 to work for Eagles GM Howie Roseman, was instrumental in Raiche being hired by the Eagles as Football Operations Coordinator that year. After Berry left to take the Browns GM job in 2020, Raiche soon replaced him as Vice President of Football Operations.
The Browns have had an assistant GM opening since Kwesi Adofo-Mensah left to take over as Vikings GM this offseason, a post for which Raiche also interviewed.
She might not receive the title of assistant GM unless necessary to pry her away from the Eagles, and could also receive the title of Vice President of Football Operations. The job will be similar to Adofo-Mensah’s, and Raiche will be on track to become an NFL GM before long.
With the Eagles, Raiche was involved in all areas of football operations and player personnel, including pro and college scouting, contract management, player/staff development, and football research.
A native of Montreal, Quebec, Raiche, 33, earned a law degree and a master’s degree in tax, and worked in business law for a Montreal firm. In 2015, she switched gears and began her football career with the Canadian Football League’s Montreal Alouettes, first as coordinator of football administration and then as assistant general manager. She then became Director of Football Administration for the Toronto Argonauts and also worked for the Tampa Bay Vipers of the XFL.
The Browns have been at the forefront of hiring women for key positions in their organization, including Callie Brownson, chief of staff and assistant receivers coach; player personnel coordinator Megan Rock and area scout Kathleen Wood.
