80 cows on board overturned tractor-trailer

A tractor-trailer carrying 80 cows overturned in Winston-Salem Thursday morning. It happened on Highway 52 North, near Interstate 40, around 4:05 am Winston-Salem police say parts of Highway 52 northbound and Interstate 40 westbound are closed in the area. Interstate 40 eastbound is open, but with a detour. The North Carolina Department of Transportation says this may not clear until close to 10 am Winston-Salem police say of the 80 cows on board, ten escaped. Four of the cows are still being searched for. Police say if residents see cattle roaming, please call the non-emergency hotline at 336-773-7700.
