2022 U.S. Open leaderboard: Live coverage, golf scores today, updates from Round 1 at The Country Club

The 122nd US Open gets underway Thursday with the national championship taking place at one of the oldest golf courses in the United States. The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts, received the honor of hosting its fourth US Open and first since Curtis Strange defeated Nick Faldo back in 1988.

Those two legends of the game make way for new ones as world No. 3 Rory McIlroy begin his quest for major No. 5 in the early hours of the first round. He will be joined by 2021 Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama and Olympic gold medalist Xander Schauffele in a dynamite pairing. McIlroy, though, is not the only man looking to make history. Brooks Koepka is attempting to capture his fifth major championship and third US Open. Koepka is one of a few afternoon headliners as he opens paired with world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and Players champion Cameron Smith.

With big names, an old school golf course and storylines running rampant, this year’s US Open is already shaping up to be one to remember. CBS Sports will update this story with scores and highlights below. Check out the live scores at the top of this story, a more detailed leaderboard, Round 1 tee times and our complete US Open TV schedule coverage guide.
